Solar energy harvesting is not only for the energy conscious, but for those that want to earn LEED points for their building.

Recent studies of energy payback time estimate that it takes a PV system one to three years to produce the same amount of energy that it took to manufacture it. Given that a PV system will continue to produce electricity for 30 years or more, a PV system’s lifetime production will far exceed the energy it took to produce it.

Unlike conventional energy sources, PV systems produce clean electricity for decades after achieving their energy payback in three or fewer years—this is truly the magic of PV technology.

Wolin has installed numerous solar arrays for our customer base, as well as for our own headquarters, which produces approximately 14% of Wolin's power needs:

25.92kW DC strut mounted system

  • Annual production is 30,384kWh
  • (108) 240 watt panels on a flat roof, facing the array due South is ideal
  • (3) 7000W inverters
  • Metering and overcurrent protection based on NEC requirements
  • Web portal for monitoring

Our other experience includes:

  • Iowa State Fairgrounds Varied Industries Building (62.985 kW system which included 247 panels)
  • Des Moines Area Rapid Transit (27.5kW with 100 panels)
  • Grinnell College (3.36kW system)
  • and personal residences across Iowa

A typical install can take 2 weeks (or less, depending on project size) after the design is completed and equipment arrives.
